Privacy policy

Last updated 30 October 2026

RoadAcademy is an app for learning the rules of the road and preparing for the driving theory exam. This policy explains what we keep about you, why we keep it and what you can do about it.

Who we are

RoadAcademy ("we") belongs to Vadim Khalatryan, a private individual in Armenia, who runs the app and this website and decides how the information described here is used. You can reach us at support@roadacademy.app.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email address, and your password stored only as a one-way hash. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we keep the identifier that provider gives your account instead of a password.
  • Your profile: the name and picture you choose to add, your country, the license categories you learn for, the app's language, your daily goal and your phone's time zone; and the nickname and username every account is given, which you can change. Other drivers see your nickname, your username, your picture (or, if you have none, the initials of the name you added), your XP for the week and the ring a paid plan draws around your picture. They never see your full name or your email address. You can leave the weekly ranking in the app; your friends still see you there.
  • Your learning: the answers you give, how well you know each question and rule, your lessons, mock exam results, XP, streak, streak freezes, fuel and spare fuel, achievements, what you told us when you started (where you are with driving and when your exam is), how your exam went (if you tell us), how many ads you chose to watch today, and your best score in the hidden game.
  • Friends: the drivers you are friends with and the friend requests between you, including a request you declined, kept so that the same driver cannot keep asking.
  • Invitations: the email address of anyone you invite, with when you invited them. We send that address one email in your name. An address nobody accepts is deleted, together with our record of that email, when its invitation expires, 30 days after it was sent.
  • Invitation rewards: for each friend you invited, whether each stage of the reward was paid, in fuel or in days of Plus, and if not, why. To stop one person inviting themselves for a reward, we remember which accounts each phone has been registered to, and pay nothing when two accounts have used the same phone. We also record the IP address an invitation was sent from and an account registered from, so that our staff can look into a case of abuse; an address alone never decides anything, because many people share one.
  • Family: if your plan covers more than one person, the drivers who hold a seat on it and the seats you have offered, by username or by email address; if you hold a seat in somebody's family, whose family it is. People in one family see each other's nickname, username and picture or initials, never a full name or an email address, and the owner sees an address only where they typed it in.
  • Purchases: if you buy a plan in the App Store or Google Play, what the store reports about it through RevenueCat: the plan, the product, when it was bought, until when it runs, whether it was refunded and the store's number for the purchase. Your card and payment details stay with Apple or Google; we never see them.
  • Pass guarantee: if you send a claim after failing the real exam, the exam date, what you write, and the photos or files of your result, which may show your name and other details from the exam. A person reads them to decide. The files are deleted 7 days after the decision; the claim itself (the date, what you wrote, the decision, the days given and the reason) stays with your account.
  • Sign-in security: if you turn on two-step sign-in, its secret and your recovery codes, the codes stored only as hashes; and the public key and name of any phone you set up for fingerprint or face sign-in. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your phone.
  • Notifications: the identifier Firebase gives each phone you use, so that our notifications reach it, and whether you have switched reminders off. For every email and notification we send you we log the address, which kind it was, when it went and whether it was delivered, never its text.
  • Problem reports: what you write when you report a problem in the app, the screen you were on, your phone's platform, the app's build and your phone's system version, and, unless you take it out, a picture of the screen, which may show your name or picture.
  • The color-vision check: answers to the color plates are counted per day and language, without your name, so that we can tell whether a plate works. They are never stored against your account.

What we do not do

We sell no data, and we use no analytics service to follow what you do in the app. Ads appear only on the Free plan and only when you ask for one, to refuel or to open one more mock exam or lesson on your mistakes, never inside a lesson or an exam. This website keeps only your choice of language, in your own browser.

Why we use it

  • To run your account and keep your progress on every phone you sign in on. This is the service you ask for when you register.
  • To choose your lessons, score your answers and show how ready you are for the exam.
  • To send what your account needs: address verification, password reset and the welcome email, and news of a friend or family request, a reward or the answer to a claim.
  • To let you find friends by their username, invite them by email and compare your week with theirs.
  • To pay the fuel or days of Plus an invitation earns, once, and to keep them from being farmed.
  • To share a family plan with the people its owner invites, and give each of them Plus while the plan runs.
  • To look at a pass-guarantee claim you send, and give the days of Plus it earns.
  • To send study reminders, until you switch them off in the app.
  • To play an ad you ask for on the Free plan, and to give you the fuel, the mock exam or the lesson on your mistakes it buys.
  • To look into the problems you report and fix them.
  • To keep the service secure and stop abuse.

Your account, learning, purchases, friends, family and claims are the service you agree to when you register, under our terms of use. The security records and the checks against abuse rest on our legitimate interest in a safe and fair service. Reminders, and ads chosen for you where the law asks for consent, rest on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who helps us

A few providers process information for us, only to do their part:

  • Brevo sends our emails, so it handles your email address and the email itself.
  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers our notifications to your phone, so it handles your phone's identifier and the notification.
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the app fails: what went wrong and where in the app, the phone's model and system version, and an identifier for this installation of the app. A report names no account.
  • Google AdMob plays the ads you ask for on the Free plan. To choose, count and pay for an ad it handles your phone's advertising identifier, its IP address and what the ad network learns from the ad, under Google's own privacy policy. An ad may be chosen for you from that information: on an iPhone only if you allow tracking when the app asks, and in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland only with the consent the app asks for first. Elsewhere you can turn off personalized ads, or reset or delete the advertising identifier, in your phone's settings.
  • RevenueCat checks a plan you buy in the App Store or Google Play, so that it reaches your account. It receives your account's random identifier and what the store reports about the purchase, under RevenueCat's own privacy policy. Payment details stay with Apple or Google.
  • Google and Apple, if you choose to sign in with them, under their own privacy policies.
  • Our hosting provider runs the server and the database.
  • Cloudflare stores the pictures, profile pictures included, and delivers the pictures of road signs and dashboard lights to the app, so it sees your phone's IP address when it does.

Some of them process information outside your country. Each is bound by its agreement with us to use it only to do its part, with standard contractual clauses where the law asks for them.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you delete it, everything above that belongs to it is deleted at once: the account, profile, picture, progress, exam results, registered phones, purchase records and the email log. Copies in backups disappear as those backups expire. Anonymous counts, such as the color-plate tallies, stay, because they identify nobody.

A problem report is kept for at most 60 days, and goes sooner when your account does.

An invitation nobody accepts is deleted, with the address it was sent to and our record of the email, 30 days after it was sent.

The files sent with a pass-guarantee claim are deleted 7 days after the claim is decided.

A family goes with its owner's account, and a seat in it with its holder's. Leaving a family, or being removed from it, ends the seat at once.

If you joined through a friend's invitation, a record that the invitation was rewarded stays after you delete your account, without your name or address, because it counts towards your friend's monthly limit.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we keep about you, to correct it, to receive a copy of it, to have it deleted, or to object to how it is used. Most of this you can do in the app yourself: edit your profile, switch reminders off, reset your progress or delete your account. For anything else, write to support@roadacademy.app from your account's email address. You can withdraw a consent at any time, by switching reminders off or changing ad tracking in your phone's settings. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

RoadAcademy is meant for people preparing for a driving license. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly keep an account for one. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, write to support@roadacademy.app and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date. An important change is also announced in the app or by email.
